Many states are putting funds into scholarship programs for the professional development of childcare providers. These states are finally recognizing the value of quality trained caregivers. It is also known that continuing education helps decrease the turnover rate and improves morale. I have listed just a few scholarship programs that are now available, be sure to check your state child care home page for the most current information.

Early Childhood Development Scholarship – Kentucky
Funds available to help obtain degrees, Kentucky Early Childhood Development Director’s Certificate or the Child Development Associate Credential

Educational Incentive Program – New York
Income eligibility guidelines
Scholarships available to pursue a variety of education options.

The Office of Child Care – Utah
Funds training scholarships for licensed center and family child care providers
Includes CDA or Director’s Credential
Income eligibility requirements

Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (T.E.A.C.H.)
Available for both family daycare and center providers.
Must be employed in a qualified program
Most states require to the provider to commit to staying with the employer for at least six months afterwards.
Some states provide for a raise of bonus upon completion of educational goal
