Family Childcare Provider Mentor Project
Purpose
The family childcare provider mentor project is to serve as directory to match up experienced family daycare providers with those just starting their daycare program. Running a child care program from your home can be an isolating experience. Even if you have had a strong educational background in child development or child care, chances are that you have not had much training or experience in running a business! This is an opportunity to interact and get one on one feedback from someone who has been a family daycare provider.
How it Works
Below are the profiles of providers that have volunteered to be mentors. You may contact a person directly through their website or email. If you would like to be a mentor please contact me via email. Mentors will recieve periodic resources and information from me to help them. They will also have the opportunity to interact and support each other.
| Here are some local family
daycare agencies that offer mentoring services as well:
Pennsylvania Home-based Child Care Providers
Association, Inc. |
Please note: Except in rare cases, I have not met either the mentors or the providers involved in the project. I will not take responsibility for your interactions once I have made your connection. Exercise appropriate care when divulging personal information or meeting people from the internet in person.

Carrie Virginia I have been in the child care field for 13+ yrs. I started out as
a licensed family child care provider for the USAF for about 5yrs and
then when my husband got out of the service I became an assistant
director for Kindercare and then became a director for them. Not long
after that I accepted a position at another center to be the director
for another company where I took over a low enrolled center that had
many issues internally with staff and trainings as well as with
licensing regulations. I quickly boosted morale and cleaned the center
up to boost enrollment that was at 67 children when I took over in a
center that could hold 214 to 150+. I became the trainer for the area
for all new center directors and area mangers. I had the top
programming in my area for my center along with professionalism.
But after becoming pregnant with my 5th child in 2004 I decided
that it would be in mine and my families best interest if I stayed home
again and opened up my home day care again. To which the doors of Tiny
Prints Family Child Care opened in 2005.
I am still pursuing my ECE degree which I hope to have by this
time next spring but have been through many many trainings for both
corporate or non corporate since 1996 to the present.

Nena Hello to my fellow home daycare
providers! My name is Nena and I am from Illinois. I am
married to a hardworking man and and we have two school
age children. I have 12 years child care experience and 4
of them is being a home daycare provider. Most of my
career I spent in daycare centers and preschools. I
prefer doing home daycare. I really love being at home in
a more personal and family-like setting with my 4 dc
children. While working in the centers, I received both
center based CDA’s and then I finally graduated with
my 2 year early childhood degree in 2003. It takes a
while a class or two a semester but it was well worth
waiting for. Thanks Nena~ |
