Weather Songs
Eensy Weensy Raindrops
{Tune: "Eensy, Weensy Spider"}
Some eensy, weensy raindrops
Are falling from the sky.
They're filling up the puddles
And dropping in my eye.
Drip, drip and drop, drop,
I love to hear them fall,
For the eensy, weensy raindrops
Mean wet fun for us all.
What's the weather?
(tune:Clementine )
What's the weather? What's the weather?
What's the weather like today?
Tell me children what's the weather?
What's the weather like today?
Is it sunny, is it rainy, is it windy out today?
Tell me children what's the weather, what's the weather like
today?
Weather Crafts
Wind Chimes
Teacher is to poke holes in a aluminum pie plate.
Children can decorate the plate and hang varios items with yarn
from the base. Suggest chime materials: Make wind chimes for
children to hang outside. Wind chimes can be made of many
different things. See what materials the children suggest. Forks,
spoons, shells, sticks, pieces of metal, aluminum pie pans etc.
Tape record the sound of the chimes and let the children listen
to it at circle time or nap time.
Rain Painting:
Children drop food coloring on a paper plate. Take
outside when raining to observe the running colors and designs.
Snow Painting
Water down tempra paint and pour into spray
bottles. Let children spray paint designs in the snow.
Windsock
Children decorate a large piece of poster paper.
Roll the paper and tape it on the edges to create a cylinder
shape. Punch a hole on one end to attach a yarn loop. Tape strips
of crepe paper or streamers to the other end.
